China Beach

Although the City of Da Nang is not particularly well known for its beaches, this does mean that it does not have a fine selection of golden sand beaches for visitors to enjoy. It simply means they are less well known than the majority of the beaches in Vietnam. This is good news for visitors to Da Nang.

The premier beach which the City of Da Nang has to offer visitors is without a doubt China Beach. Originally developed to offer rest and relaxation for American troops who were on leave, or awaiting assignment, China Beach has continued to develop as a pleasure beach. Even now, the beach pays homage to the American soldiers who lost their lives in Vietnam, and much of the infrastructure currently in place is simply an extended version of the basic amenities American soldiers enjoyed.

China Beach is one of the most stunning beaches to be found anywhere in Vietnam. The Marble Mountains provide the backdrop, whilst the lively beach front provides everything from jet-ski hire to soft drinks.

During monsoon season, the surf at China Beach is entirely suitable for surfers. Indeed, it is this single fact which made the beach so popular with American soldiers in the 60s. China Beach is without a doubt the top surfing beach close to Da Nang.

Although many tourist prefer the more developed beaches of Hue and Hoi An, China Beach has much to offer. If you are the kind of holiday maker who doesn’t need constant interruption from hawkers selling food and drink, and enjoy spending time on a quieter beach, the China Beach is probably the best Da Nang beach for you. In a nutshell, there are better tourist beaches to be found around Da Nang, but China Beach is and will continue to be the top Da Nang Beach.
